Join your host Cat for a hands-on experience, where you will get to cook along with her in her small kitchen. The cooking portion of the experience will last for about 30 mins as all the ingredients are prepped, and you will learn to make an appetizer or a main. Cat will serve either Peranakan or Malaysian cuisine, dishes that stem from a mix of Chinese and Malay cultures specific to certain parts of Malaysia, including Malacca. The base for this cuisine would be spicy, salty and is usually prepared using sambal-chilli paste, shallots and belacan or shrimp paste. Peranakan cooking is an endless concoction of flavors, not all dishes are spicy and the level of spiciness can easily be adjusted to match each travelers taste. Cat also pays a lot of attention to presentation and takes a lot of effort to style and garnish her food. If this is something that interests you, please ask her to give you some food styling tips!
