Start from Chora, Ios Village, by bus to the Bronze age (3rd millennium BC) settlement of Skarkos the biggest of its kind in the Cyclades
Having toured the ancient site, continue to the east coast of the island by bus, where the ruins of the Venetian fortress are situated, spectacularly above the blue Aegean, locally known as Paliokastro.
Then visit the pretty fishing village of Psathi for lunch at Alonistra, a traditional family run tavern, which uses amazing, locally grown produce.
