This morning dolphin swim excursion takes you to sea in a super safe Willard Navy Seals boats to swim in areas known for wild spinner dolphins, to experience their energy and curiosity in interactions with humans. Following the dolphin swim, you will travel south to explore the sea caves along the Kona Coast, and go snorkeling in the calm waters of Kealakekua Bay Marine Reserve (location of Captain Cook Monument), often called the best snorkeling spot in Hawaii, and only accessible by boat (or a very long hike). After exploring the colorful reef, you can relax aboard to enjoy snacks and green tea, while learning about the historic and cultural background of this region. On your way back to Keauhou Bay, you may see other natural sea creatures such as whales (Humpbacks, in season), manta rays and sea turtles.On the rare occasion you don't see any Dolphin, you can join with us again for free on the next available scheduled tour (pending space availability).

This excursion is offered as a morning 4-hour adventure and as condensed express 2.5-hour afternoon adventure, as well as ride-along options without snorkeling. Go out in the super safe Willard Navy Seals boats to swim in the area known for wild spinner dolphins. Experience their energy and curiosity towards humans. Following, you will enjoy a quiet and relaxing snorkel in the Kealakekua reserve, often called the best snorkeling spot in all Hawaii, and only accessible by boat (or a very long hike). In season, we will also look for other natural sea creatures such as whales and sea turtles. Because this local operator limits their customers to six per boat, they have plenty of room, plenty of individual attention, and plenty of time to ensure that they can get to everything and still have time to relax. Itinerary: 8 am 100% 1st Aid/CPR Trained Crew with Certified Safety Professionals will provide detailed safety instructions. (afternoon tour briefing 12:15 pm) 8:15 am Depart Keauhou Harbor, headed north in search of Hawaii's famous spinner dolphins. (afternoon tour departs 12:30 pm) Swim with Dolphins: 8:30 am - 10 am Once we find a pod of friendly dolphins, we take a very cautious and respectful approach. If they feel bothered, they can be gone in a flash! Dolphins are very curious and may swim over to look at us. They are particularly drawn towards children. Explore the Coast 10 am Head south along the Kona Coast to explore sea caves en route to Kealakekua Bay. The Captain or guide will point out interesting facts about the unique coastline of Hawaii. Waves permitting, you might be able to enter a grotto... Kealakekua Bay 10:45 am Enjoy snorkeling in what is usually considered the BEST snorkel spot in all of Hawaii. Calm water...fish everywhere...crystal clear water. Snack Time 11:15 am Re-board boat, enjoy fresh fruit platter and snacks while learning some Hawaiian history and culture. Depart Kealakekua Bay 11:35 am Head back north to Keauhou Harbor Arrive at Harbor 12 pm Tour ends (afternoon tour ends 3:00 pm)

We did find dolphins and swam with them in about 20 foot of water. I got great go pro footage with some dolphins 6 feet away. The snorkel near Captains cook was the best I've seen and we travel a lot. This trip is not for kids though. Deep water and a lot of boats around. The reef although beautiful had a lot of sharp objects and the surf could push a kid into it.
