Half-Day Tour (4 hours):
Your Big Island photo tour begins with pickup from your hotel or residence at your selected time: early morning (to catch the sunrise), late morning, afternoon or evening (to catch the sunset).

As your friendly and experienced photo guide takes you to your first stop in your private four-wheel-drive SUV, he or she will tell you a bit about Hawaii’s physical and cultural history.

Photo locations vary day to day, but you can be sure you’ll be taken to some of the Big Island’s most scenic spots, from waterfalls to lava fields. Possible sites include Kealakekua Bay in South Kona, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, Kilauea volcano and the lava landscape around Saddle Road. During your time at each location, listen to your guide’s instructions about framing, shadows and more.

Practice your skills with some creative photo exercises that will teach you how to use the light and landscape to capture a beautiful photograph. Your tour ends with return to your pickup point.

Full-Day Tour (10-12 hours):
More than twice as long as the half-day option, the full-day photo tour is for true photography buffs who want as many chances as possible during the day to capture the perfect shot of the Big Island.

Begin in the morning at your selected time (either the very early morning to catch the sunrise or a late morning departure if you’re not an early bird). After your private guide picks you up in your four-wheel-drive SUV, take off for the first of several scenic locations.

The sites visited vary day to day; possibilities include the rainforest valleys and waterfalls of the Hamakua Coast, the beaches and rivers of the former royal settlement of Waipio, and the lava landscapes around Saddle Road and Kilauea, the most active of the Big Island’s volcanoes. Perhaps you’ll take shots of a 1,000-foot (305-meter) waterfall, a forest of native koa trees or a lava tube.

Throughout the day, listen to your guide’s insights about photography and take part in exercises that teach you how to use light and other photo tricks. Halfway through the day, stop for lunch at a favorite local restaurant, a luxury hotel or an outdoor location where you can enjoy a picnic; where you have lunch is up to you and is at your own expense; please note your lunch preferences when booking.

Your tour ends with return to your pickup point.
