You begin your wraparound adventure with a Hawaiian Continental Breakfast at the Place of Refuge. It’s our morning to share “aloha” before we start the day.
Discover Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park and understand why breaking the sacred law meant death and why this Place of Refuge was a way to have sanctuary. Then, stroll across the picturesque Punalu’u black sand beach and search for sea turtles. Take a private tour at Ka‘u Coffee Mill and enjoy free samples of various coffee products, and see a working Hawaiian farm and coffee processing facilities.
Explore the Hawaii Volcano National Park, home to the most active volcano and Pele Kilauea. Feel the heat of the steaming bluff from cracks in the ground. Experience walking through a 500-year old lava tube where lava once flowed and a tropical rainforest awaits at the end of the tube.
Next, Venture off the beaten path to Rainbow Falls. This waterfall cascades 80 feet over a lava cave and often rainbows are seen. Then journey into Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Gardens and it’s more than 2,000 species of tropical plants. Follow trails through tropical rainforests and past waterfalls on your way to the ocean.
Finish your day as you venture off the beaten path to Akaka Falls and view the most incredible 442-foot waterfall on our island and learn about the legend of King Akaka by your tour guide. And finally, enjoy the expansive ocean view and coastal cliffs of Waipi’o Valley from the overlook.
