Your Alaskan wilderness sightseeing adventure begins with a morning cruise from Seward to Fox Island, approximately 12 miles (20 km) south. Meet your experienced and informative kayak guides at the exclusive Fox Island Day Lodge, where they’ll provide a brief kayaking orientation to make sure you’re comfortable on Alaska’s blue waters (no prior kayaking experience necessary).
Spend the morning on a 3-hour guided sea kayak tour as you trace Fox Island’s coastline, discovering the natural beauty and blue-green waters. Glide past craggy verdant cliffs and remote beaches. Listen as your guides point out marine life and explain the geological history of the archipelago that includes Fox Island. Watch for seals, otters and other ocean creatures while skimming the water.
Return to shore to refuel with a grilled wild Alaska salmon and prime rib lunch at Fox Island Day Lodge. While you enjoy your gourmet lunch a National Park Ranger will offer a presentation about the natural history of the area.
Depart Fox Island after lunch for a boat tour of Resurrection Bay, where you’ll observe more fascinating marine life from a different perspective. Watch for puffins congregating near the cliffs, sea lions
somersaulting in the bay, and birds soaring through the pure Alaska air.
You’ll see the occasional glacier, making for great photo
opportunities, and learn about the nature crossing from narrators. After
approximately 2.5 hours on the water, you’ll return to Seward Small
Boat Harbor.
