Depart Adelaide and travel through the Adelaide Hills where you'll find South Australia's oldest wine region. Enjoy cool climate wines as you visit some of the region’s best wineries for tastings including Bridgewater Mill where you’ll also see the historic old flour mill known as the ‘Old Rumber. In the Adelaide Hills you’ll also visit Mount Lofty summit to take in the panoramic views over Adelaide.
Next, stop in Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement. There is time to take a break or take a stroll through the village.
Continue to the Barossa, located just 70km northwest of Adelaide. In the Barossa, visit a variety of iconic wineries. Taste the full bodied wine from some of the oldest vines in the world. Of course, with great wine comes great food, and lunch can be arranged at a key iconic venue within the region (at own expense) but make sure you leave enough time to sample some of the locally produced delights throughout the day. Rich with European heritage the Barossa was first established in 1842 by immigrants from England, Germany and Silesia, Barossa is often compared to the Bordeaux, Napa and Tuscany Wine Regions.
These regions are also home to a range of gourmet food producers and antique wares, throughout the day you will see fascinating road-side stalls and farmers’ markets.
