Your Great Barrier Reef shore excursion departs just a five-minute walk along the waterfront from the Cairns cruise liner terminal.
Board your air-conditioned catamaran at the reef fleet terminal, and set off over the crystal-blue water to Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
During your hour-long cruise to Green Island, watch a snorkeling demonstration and an informative presentation on how to get the most of your time on this beautiful coral cay, just 15 nautical miles (27 kilometers) from Cairns.
Landing at Green Island in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, see how the island is topped with emerald rainforest and surrounded by white sandy beaches and magnificent coral reefs. The marine life includes endless varieties of colorful fish, turtles, giant clams, shells, starfish and sea anemones.
Spend a relaxing four hours on Green Island, and view the sea creatures on a glass-bottom boat tour or grab some snorkeling gear and dive into the water and see the marine life up close.
A range of optional activities can also be organized on the day, including an introductory scuba diving, Seawalker Helmet Dive and semi-submersible coral viewing tours (additional cost, paid locally).
While you’re on the island, take a walk through the national park, following easy, short walking tracks. Or you might like to browse the shops and use the facilities at the Green Island Resort. The resort has showers, change rooms and restrooms, and canoes, surf skis, sailboards, shade umbrellas and beach lounge chairs are available for hire (at your own expense).
Food and drinks can be purchased on board the catamaran and on Green Island (own expense).
After spending a relaxing four hours on Green Island, enjoy the hour-long return cruise to Cairns, arriving at the terminal at 5pm.

We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. Poor condition. Smoking area right near entrance- really? Don't feed the animals or equivalent signs posted, but never enforced.

The tour to Green Island Bay was very enjoyable. We went aboard the catamaran and it took us about 45mins to get there. Once there, we were transferred to glass bottom boat. We were amazed to see the different species of fish, including green back turtles. After the boat tour, we were given sufficient time to explore the island. Some of the people went on scuba diving and others explored the beach and made a good use of the soft silvery sand. This island tour is surely to be remembered for its pristine marine,coral and beach. I recommend for everyone on their visit to Cairns to visit the Green Island.

Paradisical island. Wonderful trip. Unfortunately our cruise ship was anchored at Yorkies Knob which is quite a long way from Cairns so our visit was curtailed.

Staff was very friendly and gave us tips on locations to snorkel and what we would see. Had a wonderful experience. Saw much more sea life including 3 sharks than I thought we would. Boat was very crowded, and lunch onboard was just ok for the price, considering the amount of people you had to wrangle around in order to get a plate. All in all, I recommend this tour. Was a great day!

Green island is pretty, and a beautiful place to swim/snorkel. Unfortunately, we didn't see much while snorkeling, so while relaxing, you likely need to go further out if you want to experience more marine life. I only did a half day on the island, which was more than enough for me. They have a pool and some outdoor cafes, shops, a massage place, etc., so you could make a day of it if you're interested.

We did not enjoy Green Island since we did not snorkel. The island was overcrowded and we thought we could enjoy the hotel, but it was off limits. Way too touristy for us. The catamaran and the glass bottom boat were fine, but we wish we would have just stayed and walk about Cairns.

We had trouble getting our tender from the Celebrity Solstice in time for 1100 Green Island tour, but called the office and were told that we missed the 1100 tour, as it was 1110. We were changed free of charge to the 1/2 day trip for 1PM that day. Very nice of them. Took Reef Rocket boat to Green Island and snorkeled from 1:30-3:45PM, forgetting about the glass bottom boat that was included in the price. Beautiful coral and fish and nice island. Had a great time!
