Day 1: Hervey Bay Fraser Island
Make your own way to the resort’s reception area in River Heads (Hervey Bay) to catch the afternoon ferry. During the 50-minute ride across the Great Sandy Strait, keep an eye out for whales, dolphins and other marine life. When you arrive on the island, a resort representative greets you and shows you to your room.
Enjoy a free evening at your leisure. You may want to stroll down to the water for a drink while watching the sunset, make a reservation for dinner at one of the two fine restaurants at the resort or opt for a more casual dinner venue where reservations are not necessary. Gaze at the bright swathe of stars in the night sky as you relax in the tranquility of Fraser Island.
Overnight: resort hotel room, Kingfisher Bay Resort
Day 2: Fraser Island (B, L)
Wake up to the sound of birds and head down to breakfast at Maheno Restaurant. Then meet your guide at 7:45am in the Village Square to start your full-day tour of the World Heritage-listed island.
Travel by air-conditioned 4WD coach along the golden sands of Seventy-Five Mile Beach and stop at Eli Creek. You can swim in the fresh waters of the creek before continuing down the beach to see the rusting remains of the SS Maheno, which was wrecked during a cyclone in 1935. After snapping pics of the hulking ship, continue driving to the Pinnacles to admire technicolor sandstone formations. Then learn about the island’s former logging industry as you visit Central Station, take a leisurely walk in the shaded rainforest alongside Wanggoolba Creek, and check out the famous satinay trees that grow in the sand in Pile Valley. Afterward, cool off with a dip in the clear waters of Lake McKenzie or simply relax on the lake's sandy shore.
Your day out includes a stop for lunch at Eurong Beach Resort, located on Seventy-Five Mile Beach. Have the option to see the island from the air by booking a scenic 15-minute flight at additional cost. After an exciting day of sightseeing on Fraser Island, your guide returns you to your resort in the late afternoon. Have the evening to spend at your leisure.
Overnight: resort hotel room, Kingfisher Bay Resort
Day 3: Fraser Island Hervey Bay (B)
Wake up early to meet your guide for a morning bird walk near the resort (own expense). More than 350 species of birds are found on Fraser Island, with a number of them stopping through on annual migration routes. During your walk, you might see a variety of kingfishers, the white breasted sea eagle and the brahminy kite, among others. Afterward, have breakfast then check out of the resort in order to catch the 10:30am ferry back to the mainland.

The tour was the highlight of the trip, with an interesting guide and some amazing scenes.
Although the resort looks great and is set in beautiful surrounds, you can hear every noise from the neighbouring rooms.
Technically not really a "three day package" - no time on the first or last day to do anything but have dinner / breakfast and take a quick walk around the complex but overall enjoyable and the nature of the island is spectacular.

My 15 year old son and I spent 3 days at the Kingfisher Bay Resort - which included a tour of the island on a 4 wheeler....it was out of this world. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Fraser Island is somewhere not to miss on your travels through Australia.

The service and expertise with the staff was very good. Definitely do the 4x4 guided busstour to get round the island unless you are an experienced offroader and rent or bring your own proper 4x4. Our guide on the buss was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well as ancient and modern history associated with the island.
The food and drinks in the restaurants and bars is just okay, nothing special and a bit pricey. Even if it is common I do not aprechiate to have to pay for wifi either when I am a guest.
Fraser island really is a must if you are in the area, and I enjoyed my stay imensely.

The tour on the island was excellent. Our ranger Martin was very informative, cheerful and looked after us well .
The down side of the tour was the misconception of a three day tour . This was really due to lack of communication regarding ferry times . We were given specific times to sail to and from the island which would only have given us 41 hours in total on the island!!!
Through investigation we found that we could travel whenever it suited us . This however was too late for day one. We did not arrive until 5pm on day one . The rest we sorted ourselves. It would also have been good to know that our booking was at a quiet time when not all of the facilities were open. All in all a great experience but would have benefitted from better communication regarding arrangements

A 1 day trip would be just as good and much less expensive. The resort was beautiful, but dinners were not included and were extremely expensive. It wasn't even 3 days. There is no time to do anything on day 1 and 3 and they try to go too many places on day 2. All I really wanted was to spend the day at Lake McKenzie, but we only got an hour thanks to some idiot Chinese girls that couldn't follow directions and didn't finish the extended bush walk. We had to go back to find them. You need a tour with less bouncing around on a bus, and more time at the more popular spots. The buffet lunch at the other resort was not very good either. On a previous vacation I took a day trip with another company. They were door to door from the Sunshine Coast, and provided a BBQ lunch at the lake, which was much better, and more fun. My main motivation to drive to Hervey Bay was the possibility of seeing whales or dolphins in the Bay. We saw nothing on either crossing but merky green water. We were also not informed that we had to pay for parking. We got less enjoyment at 4 times the cost!
