Start your day with pickup from your Hobart hotel by air-conditioned 4WD vehicle. After a short drive to Kettering, board the ferry for the 15-minute ride to Bruny Island.

When you arrive, drive down the Bruny Island Neck, a narrow strip of land that connects the northern and southern sections of the island. As you travel, your guide points out oyster beds and farms that provide fresh ingredients for Bruny Island’s legendary eats.

You’ll sample a variety of delicious foods throughout the day as you visit local producers. Early on, stop into Bruny Island Berry Farm for morning tea, which might include fresh scones and berry jam. Later, enjoy a relaxing lunch at Hotel Bruny’s beachside restaurant, where the menu features fresh local-caught fish, island-grown produce, and Tasmanian lamb and beef. As you tour the island, nibble artisan cheeses at the Bruny Island Cheese Company, fresh oysters at Get Shucked and smoked salmon at BISH (Bruny Island Smoke House). Also stop into Bruny Island Premium Wines to taste their pinot noir and chardonnay.

You also visit the Adventure Bay and Hummock lookouts where you can get panoramic views and great photo ops. Learn about the little penguins that nest near the base of the Hummock lookout and gain insight into the island’s Aboriginal past at the nearby Truganini Memorial.

Follow the Mount Mangana Trail and pass Cloudy Bay en route to Cape Bruny Lighthouse, an important navigational landmark. During a stop at Inala Private Reserve, learn about the diverse animal and plant life found there, including native orchids and red-necked wallabies. Delve into the plants of ancient Australia at Jurassic Garden.

In the late afternoon, ferry back to Kettering and stop at Nutpatch Nougat Chocolates, a top-quality chocolate shop. Learn about their chocolate production process and taste their chocolates before returning to Hobart.
