Your day starts with morning pickup at your Hobart hotel and transfer to the airport for your scenic flight to Bangor.

Your small group flies to Bangor in a fixed-wing plane with an experienced pilot who shares informative commentary about the sights below. Take in stunning views of the coastlines of the Tasman and Forestier peninsulas, Tasman Island, the organ pipe cliffs of Cape Frederick Hendrick and Cape Pillar’s sea cliffs, the highest sea cliffs in the southern hemisphere.

Upon landing at Lagoon Bay, enjoy a private driving tour through Bangor, an extensive farm and nature reserve that has been owned by the same family since the mid-1800s. The property covers more than 15,320 acres (6,200 hectares) of native bush and farmland, and 22 miles (35 kilometers) of coastline. Native wildlife thrives here, with critters including wallabies, wombats, bettongs, quolls, and more than 120 bird species including sea eagles, wedge-tailed eagles and swift parrots. Bangor is also a working farm with sheep, cattle, and a vineyard and winery that produces excellent cool climate wines.

Stop at Tasman Bay for a short walk to the Tasman Monument, which marks the spot where Abel Tasman planted the Dutch flag in 1642. Enjoy a light morning tea here, then continue around Blackman Bay to reach Bangor’s vineyard. Afterward, relax at the Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed and enjoy a wine tasting that features the vineyard’s pinot noir, chardonnay or pinot gris wines. Top it off with a gourmet lunch of fresh local oysters, abalone, mussels, Tasmanian cheeses, followed by tea and coffee.

Depending on the season, cozy up by the fire or sit out on the deck and soak up views of the vineyard, Blackman Bay and the township of Dunalley. Then enjoy a scenic drive by bus to return to Hobart.
