Day 1: Melbourne Yarra Valley (L)
You’ll leave Melbourne in the morning and travel one hour by minicoach to reach the Yarra Valley. Stop first at Punt Road, where you’ll receive an entertaining wine tasting session from your guide. Learn how to swirl, sniff, and sip the wine to fully savor its flavors, and then taste a variety of wines at this iconic Yarra Valley tasting room (aka cellar door).
Next, continue to Balgownie Estate and Spa, your overnight destination and one of Australia's great small vineyards. Known for cabernet sauvignon and Shiraz produced from 40-year-old vines, Balgownie also produces chardonnay, pinot gris, and pinot noir, among other varietals. Take in their excellent display on the history of winemaking, then sample a variety of their wines.
After your tasting, you’ll be ready for lunch! Just steps away you’ll find Rae’s Restaurant where you dine on a delicious 1-course lunch, accompanied by a glass of wine and tea or coffee.
Say farewell to your day tour companions after lunch and check in at reception for your overnight stay at Balgownie Estate and Spa. You’ll have the rest of the day at your leisure to unwind and explore the amenities on-site.
Pamper yourself at the Natskin Spa Retreat, which offers massage, body and water therapies, facials, and nail care (own expense). Or get moving at the Health Club’s pool, steam room and gym. Other facilities include tennis courts, a volleyball net, a giant chess set and a walking trail.
Overnight: Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort and Spa (4.5 star spa suite)
Day 2: Yarra Valley Melbourne (B)
Start your day with a tasty buffet breakfast at Rae’s Restaurant, and enjoy the morning at your leisure. After lunch (own expense), make your way to the Cellar Door to meet your guide and a friendly group of new tour companions.
Once you have become acquainted with your group, set out for Yering Farm’s tasting room, situated in a remodeled hay shed decorated with rustic farm and winemaking equipment and historical maps. Sample superb handcrafted wines as you take in spectacular views across the vineyard and orchard to the Dandenong Ranges beyond.
Next, visit your final stop at Domaine Chandon, the Australian production house of the famous French Champagne company Mo
