Magnetic Island is the perfect place to relax and unwind and with your own vehicle you will be able to explore Magnetic Island at your leisure. Magnetic Island is situated only 5 miles (8km) offshore from Townsville and is a quick and easy trip by ferry. Operating eight times a day this is the only car ferry available for the 40-minute trip from Townsville to Magnetic Island. At the time of booking, please select your date of travel and ferry time for your one-way trip from Townsville to Magnetic Island. The date and time for your return journey can be booked when checking in for your outbound ferry in Townsville or once you are on Magnetic Island.

Check-in at the ferry terminal located in Ross Street in South Townsville at least 20 minutes prior to the selected departure time. Drive your car on board the ferry and relax on the 40-minute ride while taking in the stunning views as you cruise to Magnetic Island through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
There are also eight ferry times to choose from for your return journey from Magnetic Island to Townsville. This can be booked either on check-in for your Townsville or once you are on Magnetic Island.

The booking process with Viator was extremely simple. We just needed to arrive at the ferry terminal 20 minutes prior to our departure time to exchange our voucher for our ticket. We then drove straight onto the ferry for a very comfortable ferry crossing from Townsville. 35-minutes later, we drove off with no hassles, ready to explore the beautiful Magnetic Island. Too easy!!
