Imagine yourself steering a three-wheeled luge cart around bends, over bumps and through tunnels with the view of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu below. Your day will be filled with scenic views and adventure as you take a gondola from Queenstown to the Skyline complex at the top of Bob’s Peak. From there, take up to five rides (because one isn’t enough) down one of two luge tracks the advanced track or the scenic track.

Whether you’re looking to boost your adrenaline, appreciate the scenery or both, this gondola and luge ride is a perfect option when in Queenstown.
From the gondola base, located within 10 minutes’ walk from downtown Queenstown, take the gondola to the main Skyline complex and surround yourself with 220- degree views of mountain vistas and the sparkling lake and city below. Once you reach the top, choose from two luge options the advanced track or the scenic track.
The two luge tracks wind downhill and end beside the main Skyline building. From here, a two-seated complimentary gondola ride will take you back to the start zone for your next luge ride.
The advanced track boasts a steeper gradient, higher speeds, banking corners, tunnels and more. The scenic track is designed specifically to provide an exciting experience while allowing you to appreciate the scenery around you. Both provide the utmost safety features and allow you complete control. Switch between the advanced and scenic tracks, or stick to the one track the whole time. This tour allows five rides -- sure to satisfy any thrillseeker.

The gondola ride allows for some beautiful views of Queenstown. Even though dusk was approaching, we were able to get some great photos from the patio at the top. It was my first experience on a luge and I was glad that I had five opportunities to practice. I really think there should be three tracks, not two. Track 1 should be for first timers and less experienced riders, track 2 should be for those ready for more challenges and track 3 should be for those who know how to ride. Riders should be reminded to not block the middle of the path so that others can pass safely.

What fun this is once you let go and let the speed build! As they say, once is NOT enough--five runs were more like it although I could have gone a couple times more. Plus the views from the mountain are out of this world. Take the ski lift up one more time after your last run and walk down to the gondola building at the top so you can get the best photos. Our whole group loved it.

It's been a few years since I've been on the Gondola and luge, however it was as fun as I remember. There possibly needs to be something done regarding the queue's and parking at the bottom of the gondola, however we did travel during peak season. Staff were amazing and really helpful

Great way to spend an afternoon. Very safe. You need to plan about 20 minutes in line to board the Gondola. Maybe 5 minutes waiting each time for the Luge. Kids love....so do adults.

Well organized and exactly as described. Although we experienced the luge in the rain, the operations were very accommodating and we definitely got the most out of our time.

This is by far the longest luge ride I’ve done. You just wanna keep going! Five passes for the ride and chairlift are plenty to fully enjoy it! Everywhere, from the return gondola ride to the Skyline base, the views are truly remarkable! So worth it!
