I really wanted to do something special on my birthday and went on this tour with Zealandier Tour and I couldn't ask for a better day!
The whole trip with Jan was fun, she knew a lot about New Zealand and is such a wonderful, lovely and funny lady! I loved everything about the tour. Also the day was sunny and Hobbiton was truly a highlight! I highly recommend the tour to everyone and I would do the tour with this tour operator again! Thank you again Jan for being my guide and Emma for organizing the beautiful day for me!

Highly worth the longer drive and cost. Beautiful local and the attention to detail relative to the movie set was amazing. Tour guides were excellent!

Picked up from the port had a very friendly guide taken to Tuaranga fascinating seeing all the different geological variations then went on tonhobbiton had a fantastic tour and meal finsished off with a pint in the green dragon a brilliant overall experience

This was an absolutely outstanding experience. The travel guide was wonderful,highly organised and knowledgeable on her subjects. I would rate this as one of the best tours we have undergone at about half the price of the cruise ship tour. I would definitely use them again.

We had a wonderful time at Hobbiton and Rotorua. The Hobbiton set is beautiful and the guide was very informative. At Rotorua, the Maori Haka dance was fun, and the geyser eruption was exciting to watch. Lunch was included and WIFI was available. The only issue we had was the very hot bus - the A/C was very weak so the bus driver opened the ceiling vents for circulation. Overall, we recommend this excursion - it was fun, packed with great sight-seeing and very puncutal.

Fantastic tour! Our tour guide Philip was amazing, going the extra mile to ensure we saw all the interesting things in the areas visited and sharing his knowledge along the way. Was great to see both locations as we were only in port for 1 day. Some very unique sights at Rotorua and Hobbiton is beautiful, you wouldn't even need to be a Lord of the Rings fan to enjoy it. I highly recommend this tour.

What a fantastic day we had ... we had a small bus with a cosy group of 14 which made it very friendly and Shona was a very helpful and happy guide. The highlights were numerous but I will say that Hobiton astounded me as it was so much more than I expected. Then Rotorua was amazing too. It was a tight timetable to fit everything in and yet we didn't feel we missed anything and the lunch was superb. Thanks so much for a wonderful day.

Cruising on the Ovation of the Seas on December 29, 2017 from Sydney to New Zealand, I booked a tour for our party of 19 to visit the Hobbiton Movie Set and Rotorua Sightseeing Tour, departing from Tauranga. Even though our ship was 2 hours late in docking than was scheduled, we were met in the rain by the lovely Shona. From there it was was straight to the Maori village of Whakarnewarewa where we were educated and entertained with the customs of the Maori people. With a visit to the geysers include at the site it was a great experience. With a lovely drive with fantastic commentary to the Lord of the Rings Hobbiton Movie Set next, we were a little rushed to meet our 1pm tour, but having made it, our tour guide Caleb did a wonderful job taking us sound the set. Even those in our party who hadn’t seen the movies or even read the books were enthralled. It even stopped raining! We all enjoyed a beverage at the end of the tour at the Green Dragon and enjoyed a little frivolity dressing up as Gandalf and a hobbit. One other plus was the snack pack provided to each of us on the bus-much appreciated. We even had time at the end of the day for a tour around the township at the dock which was terrific. Many thanks also to Aria L at Viator Group Bookings who helped me with the co-ordination of our tour from the other side of the world.

We enjoyed it a lot. The park was beautiful. Very informative, because there we saw and learned about things that are unique like the geyser that are incredible and very especial, or things that are difficult to see if you dont live there like the Kiwi as it is a nocturnal animal, and the part about the aboriginal people was amazing they were happy to share there culture.
Hobbiton was good, but is a long trip from Tauranga.
