Our tour guide was WyWy and he was fantastic. His animated story telling made the tour experience well worth it.

I was in Wellington several years ago and went to the Weta Workshop and had an amazing experience. This time it fell way short of the mark. I wanted to immerse myself in the creativity of Weta (which is immense) but the new space has an exhibition feel about it, including a video to watch about the founding of Weta (interesting but no interaction). The other part of the LOTR section of the tour was a wander into the forest to see where parts of the film were made. It was interesting and thankfully Wayne, our guide, had stills from the film to help jog memories. From the advertising of the tour, I (mistakenly it seems) thought that there'd be orcs in the forest for us to have pics with but it was just a walk in the forest. If you're a fan of the films (as I am), it's a good experience. As a stand-alone tour, it was good and I can recommend it. Based on previous experience, I think I was expecting that little X factor to make it excellent.

Our guide was great and had us cracking up the whole time! Even as a huge lord of the rings fan I still learned a bunch. Weta cave was amazing as well. Incredible what they do there and everyone was so knowledgeable and nice!

It was an enjoyable day and a very interesting attraction. Make sure you ready to hike during the first portion of the tour.

We did the Lord of the Rings Half Day Tour on our Cruise Trip 2018. We had the pleasure of having Jack O'connor as our Private tour guide for the afternoon. Jack was great! he drove us around and talked passionally about Wellington and Weta studio. Despite the fact the first film was released back in 2001, now almost 20 years we still share the memories of the film with such enthusiasm, as we revisited the forest scene where the hobbits first encounter the Nazg
