Explore Bologna wine country, visit a traditional winery, walk through beautiful vineyards, see the cellars, and enjoy a wonderful wine tasting accompanied by local foods. To counterbalance the richness of food, the Emilia Romagna region offers refreshingly individual wines like Lambrusco, Sangiovese, Trebbiano, and many more.
The region and in particular the town of Faenza is noted for it's manufacture of Majolica ware. Majolica ware is glazed earthenware pottery. You will enter a ceramic workshop and see the artists at work: learn about the ceramic production phases from the pottery moulding to the handmade decoration and the crystal glaze application.
Next, head to the village of Dozza that is set on the first hills above the Via Emilia, between Bologna and Imola. Discover its narrow cobblestone streets until reaching the Rocca (fortress) powerful, massive, but blending in well nonetheless with the rest of the village, the plan of which is shaped like a boat.
Then, explore the charming medieval village of Brisighella, a beautiful and charming village in the province of Ravenna, perched on a rocky outcrop of the Tuscan-Romagna, on the road that connects Florence to Ravenna.
The village's origins date back to 1200, when the leader Maghinardo Pagani erected a Castle on one of the three peaks of selenite, which formed the most important stronghold of the Valley of Lamone. In the XIV century, the Manfredi, Lords of Faenza, began building of a castle on the second peak. After a short period of occupation by Cesare Borgia, Brisighella was ruled by the Venetians, who later ceded their rights to the Papal States. In 1860, after the defeat of the Austrian troops, it was incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy.
The visit will conclude with a tasting of different PDO olive oils produced in the area.
