Choose from a single or double Piaggio Vespa — the classic style of vintage Vespa — or opt to book a smaller (and some say easier) single ZIP Vespa. Then, meet your guide in central Florence, collect your helmet and get acquainted with your mode of transport.
Due to the city’s often-hectic downtown traffic and historical streets, the tour is only suitable for people who have experience driving a manual motorbike. A few practice runs on a quiet side street are included, and your guide drives at a steady pace throughout the tour to ensure no one is left behind.
When you are ready, scoot past ancient tower houses and churches as you head toward the Lungarni, the open roads that run alongside the Arno River. Catch sight of the famous Ponte Vecchio as you cross the river, and head up the hills to Piazzale Michelangelo where the best-known vantage point in Florence awaits.
Stop to soak up the views as your guide points out the city’s key sights, and enjoy a gelato before returning to your scooter. Then, make your way back to downtown Florence, passing Florence Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori), Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Piazza Santa Croce and other must-see attractions.
After three hours on your Vespa, return to the start point where your tour ends. If you rode your Vespa on your own throughout the tour, you get a bonus Vespa t-shirt as a souvenir.
