Love the hop-on, hop-off tours - great way to get around and see a city at your own pace. Choose the places you want to see and spend the amount of time you wish to spend. You can even just choose to stay on the bus if walking is an issue. There is an audio guide you access with use of earphones. Very enjoyable day for me as a solo traveler in Genoa!

Helpful to understand how the city is laid out. I'd recommend doing it your first day if possible. And make sure to know where the pickup sign is in advance. I saw the bus pulled over and asked where the pickup would be. He told me and as I walked towards it, he pulled away from the curb, went to the stop, and then pulled away, knowing that I had a ticket and planned to get on the bus. Nice guy. After I waited for the next bus and actually got on, as I said, the tour was helpful. As other reviewers have noted, it was kind of a pain to turn the volume down when the music came on and back up to hear the commentary.

Not as good as other 'hop on hop off tours I have done in other cities. The worst part was the dreadful music that blared at me every time the commentary paused. It was some classical violin music and was way too loud, so much so that I had to pull the earplugs out each time and then missed the beginning of the next part of the commentary.
The commentary itself was bland and uninteresting and it was very difficult to match up what was being said with what was being observed from the bus window.

Just okay.

Hate to be a bringdown, but remember, this is Genoa -- it's not Paris, or Florence, or Manhattan. The bus takes you around a neighborhood along the port and describes a number of sights. There are a few moderately interesting things to see, and a tourist-oriented shopping arcade naturally where you can buy souvenirs and snacks, or sit down and have lunch. If your family comes from Genoa, or you really need to see where Columbus hung out, by all means do this. Although I am a big fan of many of Viator's tours, in this case you might be better off walking into town -- maybe 10-15 minutes -- with a guide book and ambling around on your own.

We enjoyed the ride and the introduction to Genoa and it's history. Did you know that denim was developed there - then exported to US to become jeans? Lots of things to see and do in Genoa, including the Palazzo Reale and the Museum of 3 palaces. Great introduction to help us decide what and where we wanted to spend our time.

The stops weren't well marked in some areas, the bus was full, and the wi-fi didn't work. It was a good way to see the city, and the audio was provided in many languages.
