Relax on the 1.5-hour journey to Lugano, an elegant Swiss city located around 5 miles (8 km) from the Italian border. This attractive lakeside city is a hub for shoppers who come here to seek out delicious Swiss chocolate and various luxury goods.

On arrival, hop out of your air-conditioned coach and stroll along the cobbled streets and squares of Lugano’s shops and markets.

Browse the chic jewelry stores, designer clothing boutiques and high-end watch retailers, and hunt for one-of-a-kind treasures in an intriguing antique store. Take your time as you admire the window displays; this street is pedestrianized, so there’s no need to worry about traffic.

Break for lunch (own expense) in one of Lugano’s charming pavement cafes. After eating, explore even more shops. Use your complimentary map to find your way around. Seek out locally produced handicrafts in small boutiques or gastronomic delicacies — like truffles, wine and salami — in local delicatessens. Take a break from pounding the pavements to soak up views of the scenic Lake Lugano from the promenade.

Come late afternoon, finish the tour with a coach trip back to central Milan.
