I had no idea before this tour just how important Siena is to Italian, and world, history. Siena has contributed Popes, Saints, art and architecture of real significance. Great guide, with loads of personal stories to bring to life the history of Siena. With just days to go before the Palio, there was a natural focus on inter-neighbourhood rivalries, the traditions and the fanfare of the great race.

I wish I could remember the name of our guide. She was very passionate about Siena. I would recommend doing this tour during the first day of your stay. We had fun walking around Siena for the next two days looking for sites our guide had pointed out to us.

Excellent tour! Siena is very hilly so be prepared to climb a lot to see the sights. The Duomo is very majestic. I was very surprised to learn how significant Siena was back in their day.
