Opened amid much hype at the end of the 18th century, the theater house quickly became the place for affluent Venetians to gather, gossip and gamble against a hubbub of opera music. There were too many people in the tour group, and we could hear the guide only if we were standing next to her. We had an opportunity to see the boxes in which the audience sits and the view down into the theater interior, but there were so many of us that it was rushed and crowded. I think a person would be much better off renting an audio guide and doing a self guided tour.

I think we would have gotten just as much out of renting the audio tours as we did from this tour with a guide. It would have been a lot less expensive as well.

This was a waste of time. We had trouble finding our way to the office and the lady was definitely NOT helpful when I rang to ask about the meeting place. It was only thanks to a very kind man in a souvenir shop that we found it at all. We should have been able to meet at the Opera House. We loved the Opera House but would recommend just going to the Opera House and booking a tour when there.

The tour was very poor. I guess getting the audio tour and paying the entrance fees would be as satisfactory as the guided tour, or even better.
The guide was not friendly and was patientless. As said the information she delivered was very shallow.
We had to meet her at some farther place than the opera and than to walk with her to thr opera house. To the question why we had to do that useless trip, she said :because I am not a secretary. and i cannot record the people who attend.
She rushed thru the streets and we got to the opera breathless.

Wonderful place and interesting history of this Opera House, explained by Laura, our guide. Better if you also can buy tickets for a music show.
