Make your own way to Torre Bellesguard in Barcelona’s Sarri?-Sant Gervasi district. Designed by Antoni Gaud? in the early 1900s, this castle-like museum and private residence stands on the site of a former hillside medieval fortress built by a Catalan king, and commands stunning views over Barcelona’s rooftops.
While relics of the castle still stand in the grounds, Gaud?’s building takes center stage and is seen as one of his most interesting works. A fusion of medieval-style, art nouveau and neo-Gothic architecture, Torre Bellesguard was used by Gaud? as a test-run for ideas he later applied to his Barcelonan masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia.
Sip on a welcome drink and take a 20-minute tour around the building's stone-and-brick exterior. Admire the medieval-style battlements, and hear why the building is unusual for its straight lines — rarely seen in Gaud?’s work. Marvel at its crowning glory, a conical turret topped with Gaud?’s signature four-armed cross, and then stroll around the scenic terraces and gardens.
Next, take your seat outside for the concert. Depending on the day you have booked, either blues, jazz, flamenco or classical music is played. See the 2015 Itinerary below (2016 to be confirmed)
After your 2-hour concert, enjoy a chill-out experience in the gardens. The setting is enchanting, with Barcelona's twinkling skyline providing the backdrop and laid-back tunes from a DJ as the soundtrack. As you relax at your candlelit table, savor tapas and other international snacks, and wash down your treats with cocktails and other drinks. Food and drinks in the garden are at your own expense.
The garden closes just after midnight, but you are free to leave whenever you wish.
