Pirate Life is a brand-new family attraction on Centre Island, a unique combination of live theater and adventure boat cruise aboard a 45-foot pirate ship. The vessel is professional designed and engineered by a naval architect according to Transport Canada specifications. Construction began in spring 2014 and continued through the autumn. The grand opening is in May 2015, with a full operating season through to October. Pirate Life will become a staple destination for families both in Toronto and from the GTA.
Getting to the Island
Passengers and guests may travel to Centre Island via the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at 9 Queen’s Quay, water taxi or Toronto Island Marina Tender from York Quay or via other private boats or tour operators. Once on Centre Island we are a short walk from the ferry terminal and across the Manitou Bridge.
Safety and Insurance
Safety is our priority. The vessel was built in accordance to Transport Canada’s standards, rules and regulations, and is inspected annually and fully equipped with life-saving equipment including a life raft, life jackets for all passengers, fire extinguishers, VHF radio and others. The captain is rigorously trained in accordance to Transport Canada’s Requirements for a Master of vessel with Small Vessel Operators Proficiency, Marine Basic First Aid and Marine Emergency Duties. The crew undergoes regular training on marine emergency duties, and are familiar with the ships operation and equipment.
