This is our longest tour with the most time spent on the bike seat. It is the perfect tour to see the urban life in Santiago. It will cover a lot of ground and it is recommended for the true bike enthusiast. The tour will begin at a central meeting point in Providencia and, from there, we will head east on the Andres Bello bike path. The route will pass by typical Chilean neighborhoods of Providencia, Las Condes and Vitacura as well as “Sanhattan” - the business district of Santiago.
We will first ride through
of the main avenues of Santiago named after a former mayor of Providencia, Ricardo Lyon. This avenue provides one of the city's best tree lined bicycle lanes. We'll continue on to Pocuro, known as one of the city's most popular and safe places to run and bike. Then, we'll bike towards Tobalaba which is the conduit to uptown Santiago. Here you'll ride through and see green spaces, parks, bars and restaurants.
The tour continues on to Callao, a beautiful leafy green street, which looks great any time of the year. We'll bike through Gertrudis Echenique, which will lead us to the Parroquia Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles Church, where we will make a brief stop. After this, we'll head to a favorite uptown destination: Isidora Goyenechea. It offers a clear view to the Costanera Center, and it is the tallest tower in South America. This stop includes a tasty treat of artisanal ice cream at El Toldo Azul.
After completing the “Sanhattan” part of the ride, the tour will lead us past the US Embassy up to Bicentennial Park. This park is particularly popular on weekends after office hours for its expanse of green space suited for sports, picnics and family fun. We'll stop here for a bit. Finally, we'll bike through the beautiful Parque Metropolitano (Cerro San Cristobal) as we work our way back to the headquarters.
Note: (Programmed stops are typically 15-30 minutes long. Participants must remain with their bikes at all times except at programmed stops.)
