Dubrovnik, the UNESCO-protected Croatian city on the azure-blue
Adriatic Sea, is gorgeous from ground level; its white limestone streets
flanked by medieval buildings and its towering medieval walls hugging
the Adriatic Sea. But this 4-hour tour gives you a different point of
view.
Led by a knowledgeable guide, the
small-group tour begins with a pickup from your hotel or Dubrovnik
cruise port. Then, travel by air-conditioned minivan straight up to the steep hills that surround the
city for an incredible perspective of the Old Town's high walls and
red-tiled roofs.
After
a drive across the modern Franjo Tudjman Bridge, cruise up to the crest
of the mountains for a picture-perfect view of the grid of medieval
streets within the walls. Standing on Mt Sr, see as far as Cavtat, a
small seaside town roughly 9 miles (15 km) from the city.
Spend a few moments snapping photos, and learn
about the history of the city and about the shelling of the early-90s
conflict between Croatia and Serbia. After, head down to the Old Town, jump out of your minivan and walk along the Stradun, the main limestone-clad street where locals and
tourists alike promenade from end to end. Hear from your guide about the
churches and monasteries that stand on or near the Stradun, and which
places you should visit when the tour is over.
Your tour then concludes back at the original start point.
