Day 1: Athens Livadia Delphi Kalambaka (D)
Start your 2-day tour with a pickup from your central Athens hotel or alternatively, make your way to Amalia Hotel near Syntagma Square to meet your guide. Hop on board your air-conditioned coach and then relax on the journey northwest to Delphi.
Stop in the historical spa town of Livadia to stretch your legs, and then continue through the larger town of Arachova to Delphi. Dominating the top of a cliff on the site of Mt Parnassus, the village is home to one of the country’s most famous archeological sites: Ancient Delphi. Head inside the UNESCO World Heritage site for your 1.5-hour walking tour, and learn all about the Ancient Greek civilization in Delphi from your guide. Built on the spot where eagles of the Greek god Zeus collided when released from opposite ends of the Earth, Ancient Delphi is strewn with monuments from the era such as the Sanctuary of Apollo, a highlight of the site.
Enjoy a break for lunch in town (own expense), and then relax on your afternoon journey through central Greece. Gaze out of your window as you cross the Thessalian plains, passing the pretty towns of Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala, and then arrive at your Kalambaka hotel in the early evening. After checking in you can explore town on your own, and finally relax over dinner in your hotel.
Overnight: 4-star Amalia Kalambaka Hotel or 3-star Orfeas Hotel in Kalambaka
Day 2: Kalambaka Meteora Thermopylae Athens (B)
Savor breakfast in your hotel, and then travel to Meteora, your first destination of the day! The UNESCO World Heritage site is home to more than 20 rock monasteries, either perched precariously on top of Meteora’s towering sandstone cliffs or built into the cliffs themselves inside naturally formed caves.
With your guide, visit two of the incredible monasteries and hear fun facts and trivia about the monks who once called them homes. Originally lived in by 11th-century hermits, the monasteries later became safe havens for monks fleeing bloodshed when the Roman Empire began to fall. The two monasteries you may visit are subject to change but typically include Grand Meteora Monastery, Moni Varlaam or Moni Agiou Stefanou.
After your tour of Meteora, return to your coach for your journey back to Athens. The full route lasts around four hours, so enjoy a stop halfway in the coastal town of Thermopylae, near Lamia. Use the break for lunch (own expense), and to stretch your legs while learning about Thermoplylae’s historical battle between the Greek Spartans and Persians.
Travel onward to the Greek capital, and finish your 2-day tour with a drop-off at the start point (your hotel or central Athens) in the early evening.

This trip was very interesting and informative. The pace was quick but not unrealistic for how much there is to see in one day. Also, there are stops built in for every 2 hours or so making it possible to get drinks, snacks and to use the bathroom. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the tour.

Spectacular!! Spectacular!! I would highly recommend Chatours, everything from start to finish was amazing. Delphi and Meteora are magnificent. The tour guides, coach/bus drivers, hotel, food, comfort all fantastic. Tour was very reasonably priced and worth every penny.

The sights were amazing, but be warned that you are only at the locations for 1-1.5 hours. This may seem like enough time, but it doesn't allow time to casually walk and enjoy the sites. You spend 3-4x as long in the bus going from site to site. The other big disappointment on the trip was the hotel accommodations. The hotel is noted as a 4 star hotel, but in my experience wouldn't be above a 2 star hotel in any situation. The wifi did not work at all. Our room consisted of 2 twin beds pushed together that were as firm as I've ever felt. The lights in our room flickered in and out and some of the outlets/phone jacks were hanging by the wire. The hotel itself reminded me more of a 1980s motel than a 4 star hotel.

We knew that Delphi would be short and we were fine with that. Seeing Meteora was our reason for going. The weather was awful but of course no one can control that and what we did see of the monestaries was very cool. What was not good at all was a hotel that is called 4 star was maybe a 2. The food that was included was just okay but the places we stopped for lunch both days that we had to eat at because they were not near anything else were not good but VERY expensive. The tour guide should stick to what she knows because she was rude about other people’s religions and made statements that were not true, making us question her expertise on the tour subject. All in all, this is not up to Viator standards in our opinion. We have gone on other viator tours in other countries such as Scotland and had amazing trips.

First thing, we had only one hour at Delphi. Practically ran up to the temple and then had to turn around and head back. There was no time to stop and explore the ruins. Also there was no time to go in the museum. The information about the tour said the museum was not included, but they did not say that there was not time allowed to enter the museum. I wrongly assumed we would have to pay our own way into the museum. We were late to the bus, because we needed a WC break, and the time at Delphi was too limited even for that. If I had known that the time was so limited, I would have taken a 3 day tour. Those folks joined us after Delphi, and they had ample time to explore and discover at the ruins and museum. The tour leader simply did not have time to say much more than the basics. She was knowledgeable when answering questions.
The lunch stops were OK, prompt and what would be expected for a bus tour stop.
The hotel was lovely, a very positive part of the trip.
Our tour leader was very helpful when we needed to make connections in Athens with a driver for the airport, helping us get the pick up location that would be the quickest. She also was informative going through the monasteries.
Meals in the hotel were at a huge buffet that served a lot of folks. It was a bit chaotic, but the food was good and we had a quiet dining area separate from the buffet dining room.
Meteora monasteries were very interesting and there was ample time to listen to the tour guide and then explore on you own.

The tour was professionally done, depart on time, arrived on time. Tour guide was knowledgeable, and friendly. The drive back to Athens was long!

I truly enjoyed the whole 2 day trip that took us in a different direction than just visiting Athens, The comfort of traveling was very enjoyable. Excellent driver. The tour guide was a knowledgeable, lovely and caring lady however her Greek accent did not allow to communicate clearly in English. I guess not much one can do unless a guide spends lots of time in the US or UK. The first lunch place was absolutely awesome. The hotel experience was excellent from the check in to the actual room to the dinner to the breakfast and check out was organized very professional. Bravo! The second day lunch place was hugely overpriced...a bowl of goat soup and a small salad for 13 euro was a ridiculous overpriced cost. they disguised under all you can eat at the same price. Was unhappy. In summary I give this experience a 7 out of 10.

Enjoyed the places that we went for sure. I wish we had more time a Delphi and less time at the restaurants they bring you to. Not as much free time as I would have liked. We had 2 tour guides. The first one to Delphi was AMAZING. The second was horrible. She was constantly getting upset with us and would be very defensive. Oh, and you have to bring a skirt for meteora if you are a woman. She got mad at us for not having one. The sites were great to see, but I'm not sure I'd book with chat tours again.
