Start your full-day tour with a pickup from your Rhodes hotel, and then travel along the island’s east coast with your local guide. As you travel, gaze out of your coach’s window at the beautiful beaches and sleepy island villages.
Your first stop is Lindos. While its charming streets are lined by the white-washed houses that typify the Greek islands, it’s the awe-inspiring 4,000-year-old acropolis that is the ancient village's star attraction. Stroll through Lindos’ winding cobblestone streets, and head inside the acropolis to explore with your guide. Have your camera ready to capture sights of the dilapidated Byzantine fortress and an Ancient Greek temple, then gaze down across the Bay of St Paul.
After discovering Lindos Acropolis, make your way into the village to enjoy an hour of free time. Perhaps visit the Byzantine Church of the Ascension. Admire its grand interiors and stained glass windows, and then maybe spend the rest of your time cooling off in a cafe or exploring the village independently.
Next, return to your coach and relax on a scenic drive to Monolithos. Set amid untouched natural beauty, Monolithos is a small mountain village whose skyline is dominated by an imposing castle that rests on the summit of a sheer, craggy rock. Stop here to take in the stunning vistas, and then continue on to the outskirts of Embona. Here, visit a shop to try souma (a traditional fig-based drink) and wine, before heading into the village to recharge with lunch at a local tavern.
With your appetite sated, hop back inside your coach and travel along the island’s west coast to Filerimos village. Built on the site of the ancient Doric city of Ialysos, it is one of only three ancient cities in Rhodes, follow your guide through its historical streets and hear fascinating details as you pass by sights such as the medieval Castle of the Knights.
If you go on your tour between July and September, instead visit the Valley of the Butterflies. Located on the western side of the island, the Valley of the Butterflies is a tranquil forest that is spread around the Pelekanos River. While you weave between the rare trees that grow in the reserve, marvel as a kaleidoscope of vibrantly colored butterflies flutter around you.
Your tour then finishes in the afternoon with a drop-off back at your Rhodes hotel.
