Your bike tour begins at Fukushima station in central Osaka, where you’ll meet your guide and small group. Once you’re fitted with a bicycle and helmet, embark on an exciting 3-hour tour of city’s highlights.
Pedal by the Osaka City Central Public Hall, an impressive Neo-Renaissance building constructed of red brick in 1918. Admire the bronze dome roof before continuing along Nakanoshima Park, a waterfront park nestled between the Dojima and Tosabori rivers. Only one mile (1.5 km) in length, this urban oasis set against a classic urban skyline provides wide, flat paths bordered by greenery.
Follow your guide past the Japan Mint, where Japanese yen coins are produced and learn about its historic building. Then cycle onward to Osaka Castle, arguably the city’s most iconic landmark and a popular sightseeing spot. Marvel at the grand gates and turrets along the outer moat, and gaze up at steep walls that rise nearly 98 feet (30 meters) high. The main tower makes for a grand sight that can be matched by no other castle in Japan.
Next, cycle through Utsubo Park, situated in Osaka’s office district. This park features the oldest rose garden in the city, and was built on a former US airbase, which explains its runway shape. From the Edo period to the 1930s, Utsubo Park hosted the busiest fish market in Osaka.
At the end of three hours, your guide returns you to Fukushima station where you can board the train for your hotel or next destination.
Please note: The bike ride covers approximately 15 miles (25 km) and is suitable for any skill level.
