You will be picked up by private taxi from your Tokyo hotel and transferred to Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, where your coach tour departs at 8:30am. Board the bus for a 1.5-hour drive to Mt Fuji's 5th Station, situated 7,546 feet (2,300 meters) above sea level.
Take in breathtaking views of the iconic peak, which reaches 12,388 feet (3,776 meters) -- Japan’s highest mountain. Spend approximately 30 minutes exploring your surroundings, including the various torii gates, shrines and souvenir shops that populate the station, before your coach continues to Lake Kawaguchi or Lake Yamanaka for lunch.
Enjoy a gourmet meal consisting of five European-style dishes, including a main course of chicken, and admire the scenic mountain lake as you dine. After lunch, proceed to Sounzan Station and board the Hakone Ropeway, which reaches a staggering 13,120 feet (4,000 meters) in length. Marvel at more splendid views of Mt Fuji (visibility subject to weather conditions) as well as Lake Ashi and Owakudani from the glass-floored gondolas.
Hop off the ropeway for a stroll around Owakudani, a valley that bubbles and steams with volcanic activity at an elevation of 3,280 feet (1,000 meters). Try one of Hakone's favorite treats eggs with shells blackened from being hard-boiled in the natural hot springs! After 30 minutes here, make your way back down on the ropeway in order to board another one of Hakone's famous modes of transportation: a boat modeled after European pirate ships.
Enjoy a 30-minute scenic cruise on beautiful Lake Ashi, nestled in the caldera of Mt Hakone, and marvel at the full-scale replicas of man-of-war sailing ships as they ferry tourists around.
Your guide will deliver your group to Odawara Station in the evening via Moto-Hakone or Hakone-machi. When you arrive at the train station, board one of Japan's renowned Shinkansen bullet trains. You’ll return to Tokyo in style and comfort with reserved seats in the first-class green car, which promises an even smoother, 40-minute ride.
Your tour concludes upon arrival at Tokyo Station, but your guide can provide directions for returning to your hotel from there.
