產品詳情

The Lares trek is filled with plenty of high mountain scenery, alpine lakes and waterfalls. In the Lares Valley, women and children continue to wear traditional clothing, of bright red and its varying shades of natural dyes. This 4-day hike is a wonderful way to immerse yourself into Peruvian culture and understand typical culture and ways of life. Stone houses are covered with thatched roofs and it's like you have stepped back into the middle ages, while great herds of llamas roam the landscape as you hike. See itinerary below for details.

Day 1: Cusco - Lares - Huacawasi
After hotel pickup at around 4am and 4:30am, you'll drive through the Sacred Valley and stop for breakfast at the town of Calca. Here, you can get any last minute snacks, water and more. At 8am, you'll continue driving for about 3 hours seeing small Andean villages, mountain landscapes, herds of llamas and alpacas on the way. You'll reach the town of Lares (3,100 m), famous for medicinal power of its thermal baths. You can enjoy these waters before setting out for the hike. After feeling fully refreshed, you'll start hiking up to the Trapiche River Valley. After 2.5 hours, you'll reach Vilcabamba, rest and have lunch. Continue the hike for another 1.5 hours reaching the village of Huacawasi (3,700 m), where you'll set up camp, have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 2: Huacawasi - Ipsaycocha - Patacancha
Many of houses that you can see in Huacahuasi are built of stone and have thatched roofs. Local people produce beautiful colorful fabrics. In the morning, you will learn about weaving techniques while admiring the products made by the locals including ponchos, "chullos" (woolen hats) and other garments. After lunch, you'll start hiking for 2 hours to reach the top of Ipsaycocha Pass (4,500 m), the highest point of the trek. Here, you can admire stunning views of the surrounding mountains and then start descending for about 1 hour to reach Ipsaycocha Lake. You may spot Andean geese, Puna ibis and other wetland birds around the lake. Continue downhill until you arrive at the camp in Patacancha (3,750m/12,377feet) where you'll have tea and dinner and spend the night.

Day 3: Patacancha - willoq - Pumamarca - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes
Continue your journey through Patacancha Village, where locals are known as "Huayruros" because of the colors of their ponchos which are red and black, reminiscent of the huayruro seed. See some of the textiles made by those villagers.and admire the intricate designs reflecting aspects of their everyday lives and culture. You'll also see other local communities on this day, including Willoq, (3,600m/11,877feet), and further downhill to Pallata. Hike up to the archaeological Inca site of Pumamarca and then take transport to Ollantaytambo, passing farming terraces and an ancient cemetery. You'll arrive at Ollantaytambo for lunch and take the train to Aguas Calintes in the afternoon, enjoying spectacular views of changing countryside from Andean highlands to lush tropical vegetation. You will spend the night at a hostel.

Day 4: Machu Picchu - Cusco
Early in the morning you'll climb up for 2 hours to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. It will be worth seeing the "Lost City of the Incas" at its quietest in the early morning light. You can take fantastic photos and enjoy the peaceful time during the sunrise above Machu Picchu. Then, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the site and afterwards be able to explore it on your own. You can climb up to Huayna Picchu (or Machu Picchu Mountain), a peak that overlooks the ancient city and serves to take some panoramic pictures (must be booked in advance). After you've enjoyed the place, you can take either a shuttle bus back down to Aguas Calientes (it is not included in the price of the tour) or walk down slowly and take more panoramic pictures of surrounding amazing nature. In Aguas Calientes, you can visit one of many very good restaurants offering traditional Andean and international cuisine. You can also go to swim at the local thermal baths. Then, you'll return by train to Ollantaytambo and take a van back to Cusco from there.
