Later on we invite you to visit Sinaia Monastery, a seventeenth century monument called the “Cathedral of the Carpathians”. Here you have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Eastern-Orthodox worship. In order to preserve the atmosphere for a while longer, our last stop is Urlateanu Mansion, a manor house where you’ll have the chance to taste exquisite wines.

The Peles Castle

The Peles castle, one of the most important historical landmarks in Romania, a one-of-a-kind construction, is the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family.

Built in the 19th century according to the specifications of Carol I, Romania’s first King, the Peles Castle is an image of the monarch’s aesthetic mindset, merging German and Italian neo-Renaissance. The blood ties between the members of the Romanian and the British royal families, the Russian dynasty and the royal families of Germany and Greece, as well the Romanian Queen’s tireless patronage of arts, have attracted to the castle the most resonant names of the 19th and early 20th century. The castle spreads over 3200 square metres, having 160 rooms that impress through their beauty and sophistication. The best known is the Great Armoury Room, hosting 4000 exhibits  weaponry that was collected, or received as a gift from the four corners of the world. Another outstanding part of the castle, the Royal Library, is home to unique manuscripts decorated in gold.
