When your cruise ship docks in St Petersburg, embark on a full-day shore excursion of nearby palaces with a small group and an informative guide. Travel 15 miles (24 km) south by comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to the city of Pushkin, also known as Tsarskoye Selo (Russian for ‘royal village’).
Here, visit the magnificent, Baroque-style Catherine Palace, presented as a gift to Empress Catherine I from her husband, Peter the Great, in 1708. As you take photos of the decorative architecture, learn about the Romanov tsars who resided at the estate, granting audiences and holding gala balls and masquerades.
With your small group, check out the interior of the famous Amber Room, covered with more than 180 square feet (55 square meters) of amber panels backed with gold leaf. Hear about the recent reconstruction of the room, once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World due to its outstanding beauty.
After your 2-hour palace tour, including the surrounding gardens landscaped in 18th- and 19th-century designs, enjoy lunch in a nearby restaurant serving classic Russian cuisine.
In the afternoon, discover the amazing imperial estate of Peterhof on a 2-hour tour of the luxurious palace and garden complex located on the shores of the Neva River. Explore the fascinating and elaborate interiors of the Great Palace, which sits atop a high ridge overlooking the vast Lower Park.
With more than 140 fountains, including three major cascades, the park boasts the world's largest fountain system and has been dubbed the ‘Russian Versailles.’ Admire the Grand Cascade with its impressive golden statue of Samson grasping the jaws of the lion, as well as designs featuring a chessboard or Chinese dragons. In the Upper Garden, discover a fountain depicting Neptune, God of the Sea.
Your tour ends with transport back to the St Petersburg cruise port.

One palace was closed. We saw other sites which was a good substitute. The tour guide and driver were professional.

This tour was completely worth it. We were guests in ST Petersburg town itself and our guide picked us up from our hotel. Short transits and beautiful palaces both including the grounds at Peterhof were worth visiting.

as both Palaces are located south of city center it is very efficient to combine the tour to the palaces; well organised tour; very positive: we had a private tour (guide, driver and we two). With Margarita we had a very good guide (excellent English, avoiding crowds, always on time, presenting her personal highlights to the tourist, gives a lot of extra information regarding life in Russia).

This was our second day which was very disappointing. We were driven around for 2 hours to pick up other passengers and then began our tour. We did not see both palaces on same day. We had a rush tour of the Hermitage, lunch at the same restaurant as the day before with minimal choices of selections and the afternoon at Catherine's palace. We had not been informed that we would not return to our ship until 7 PM and we had reservations that evening for dinner at 6:30 PM. Leida , our guide, was very informative and did her best. The van was a good size for 6 people but definitely not 9. Very hot and crowded. The other passengers we picked up at the hotels did not get the tour they were to have had as well. We believe the local company was trying to make money off all of us by combining the tours and switching the itinerary without us being aware of this. We have good success with Viator in the past but were not happy with this tour.

my only dissapointment was we didnt get to Grand Palace and feel we are entitled to a rebate.There were 6 of us. I know security would not allow us to go there so thereforeyou didnt have to purchase tickets for us
However our guide was brilliant!!!!.
