This was interesting, but I was a little underwhelmed. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high.

This was a completely no hassle way to see the castle. The castle itself is a must-do in my opinion and buying a ticket this way just makes sense.

A true time saver! The Castle is beautiful. Be sure to have Tea in the Queen's Tea Room.

The price of the tickets was good and we bypassed the line. Good value

My daughter and I traveled to United Kingdom and Europe for three weeks spending three nights in each city of the five destinations. This was my daughter's first trip abroad. I lived in Edinburgh 20 years before, but had not been back since. I hoped to show her as much as we could get in during our short time there. We booked this tour on the day we arrived. Richard met us right on time! The walking part of our tour was set at a reasonable pace. We saw and had time for photos at so many of the sights we hoped to see during our tour. Including the little shop where Harry Potter was written, Greyfriers Bobby and Grassmarket area. THIS WAS THE BEST TOUR! Richard knew and shared SO MUCH history. His entertaining stories were told with humor and knowledge with out being preformed in a theatrical way or silly costume like so many of the tours are. The base of knowledge Richard gave us set the tone for our time in this beautiful city. Everything we experienced after the tour we were able to relate back to a story Richard shared especially when we toured the Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace and Abby. He was a great source of information sharing what we might want to see that I didn't have on my list already and restaurant recommendations.Edinburgh is a very walk-able city and public transport is super easy. The buses do not give change back so be sure you have the correct coins. Other recommendations I would share from our time here: Mary's Milk bar in Grassmarket Great Ice cream, milkshakes or hot chocolate, the BEST breakfast we enjoyed was at Southern Cross Cafe organic, vegetarian, gluten free options, however, the eggs Benedict is to die for! and finally for dinner we enjoyed a lovely Scottish meal at the Rosehip on Rose Street. I can't wait to go back to this beautiful place and spend more time. We couldn't print the tickets out at the airbnb but we were able to go into the visitors center and print them out. Not really a front of the line entrance ticket.

If your visiting the castle, get this ticket. The line was non-existent the Castle itself is fascinating with information, exhibits and history to please both the tourist and the avid historian. There are very busy times, such as early morning, but if you arrive around brunch or slightly earlier you miss the crowd, get a good breakfast and still have enough time to see it all.

Purchasing the entrance ticket through Viator did save some time at the site. You still need to go to the office to obtain the entry ticket but this line was much smaller that the one to purchase tickets on the day.

Was there with my 2 granddaughters who really enjoyed the history of the castle, staff very helpful and friendly, did think the restaurant was a bit costly , 10 for a slice of pizza , cans of coke 1.90 which I do think is a bit steep, but otherwise well worth a visit .
