After pickup at your Cape Town hotel, your private group will be taken to Gold Restaurant for your evening’s cultural experience. Your dinner experience starts with a drum circle where you can choose to upgrade to include learning to play the djembe drum! After drumming, you’ll be lead into the courtyard for a ceremonial hand-washing.

When seated at your table, take in the ambiance created by the elegant surroundings and friendly waitstaff dressed in vibrant African clothing and makeup. Then get ready to sample delicious foods from the African continent!

Your dinner will include a 14-course set menu with traditional dishes from South Africa and other nations such as Morocco, Nigeria and Tanzania. The seasonal menu changes, but you may try favorites such as Cape Malay Pea and Potato Samoosas (fried or baked pastry with a savory filling), Nigerian Beef Suya (barbecued beef flavored with a peanut-spice blend called tankora, or made with sweet potato wedges if vegetarian), a Namibian venison hot pot, or a Moroccan salad of tabbouleh with veggies and argan oil. The restaurant offers a selection of South African wines that you can choose to go with your meal (own expense).

As you dine, performers will entertain you with African dancing, drumming and singing. Strikingly tall and colorful Mali puppets will reenact legends that celebrate life and community, inspired by the Bamana tradition.

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos with the performers and puppets. You’ll also have a chance to join the dancing and singing during the evening. The fantastic food, spirited performances and excellent service make this an evening to remember for both visitors and locals!
