Start your evening with a hotel pickup from Cape Town, and then travel by air-conditioned vehicle to Richard’s Supper Stage and Bistro a lively theater and restaurant in the center of town. Gaze out of the windows at the stunning sea views that stretch toward Robben Island and listen to upbeat jazz music playing as you help yourself to a selection of tempting Cape Town specialties from the buffet. Succulent shrimps, grilled vegetables and curries are just a few of the dishes on offer.
With a glass of Cape wine in hand, take a seat at one of the sociable shared tables and sit back to feast on your food and watch the antics on stage. Humorous storytelling, songs etched with emotion and likeable performers are all features of the ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ show that takes place at the front of the restaurant.
Telling the story of the comical and fictional Kleintjies family who lived at the foot of Table Mountain, the show offers an insight into the cosmopolitan communities and colorful individuals that live in Cape Town. Laugh along with Pa Joe and his precocious granddaughter Genevieve, and listen to amusing stories aplenty recounted alongside vibrant African songs and harmonies.
After the performance finishes, either stay at your table to relax and enjoy a few more drinks (own expense), or have a wander around the restaurant’s bar to admire the decor. Furnished in a local Bo-Kaap style with bold colors throughout, the bar is also adorned with memorabilia celebrating the owner, Richard Loring, and his time in South African show business.
Having enjoyed roughly 3 hours inside the restaurant, finish your evening out with a drop-off at your Cape Town hotel.
