I did this trip on my own in Feb 2017. Most things went as planned and on the whole was well organised.
Day One: Travelled to Kanchanaburi and booked into Happy Times Hotel, which was very nice and relaxing with nice food. The cycle tour with Tom in the afternoon was very enjoyable with lots to see above ground and below. You can leave whatever you don't want to carry on you jungle trek here as you can collect them on the way back.
Day Two: Went to see a waterfall that had no water, so if you like your waterfalls, don't go in the dry season. Then on to the hot springs, which were nothing special, but pleasant enough. The Hell-fire pass and Museum were incredibly moving and well presented, definitely worth seeing. Lunch was very tasty as well. After leaving the main group I was taken to a small sleepy village for a cup of coffee before setting off on my jungle trek. I would have preferred a bigger group, but as the only person at least I got a personal service. The trek is all up hill and not easy going, but no overly challenging either. At the camp dinner was prepared by one of the guides and was very nice considering the basic facilities. The camp is very basic with no showers or electricity, so a wash in the river is all you get. Flip-flops would have come in handy here. Then settle down in front of a campfire with a little sak? before bed. Mosquito net is provided, so no need to bring one.
Day Three: Breakfast of eggs and toast was very nice followed by a more gentle walk back down to the 4x4 and back to the village. The bamboo rafting was cancelled due to the lack of water, but I was taken to a more commercial/touristy spot were I a got a ride on something that only just resembled a bamboo raft, all a bit dull and lacked emotion. The Death railway and train ride was much better.
The journey back to Bangkok is quite long involving a change of vehicle at the hotel in Kanchanaburi. I became aware that it had been a long and hot two days without showering, so some deodorant came in handy.
