Meet your guide upon pickup at your Chiang Mai hotel in the morning and relax on the approximate 1.5-hour drive by private vehicle toward Lampang. On this exclusive tour, learn how humans are doing their part to protect these endangered gentle giants on visits to conservation centers such as Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation.

Here you'll get to meet many elephants, including landmine survivors Mosha and Motala. Mosha stepped on a landmine in 2006 when she was only 7 months old, but in 2008 she received the world’s first elephant prosthetic! Learn about their plight at the hospital of this remarkable organization, founded in 1993, and hear about the tireless efforts to improve living conditions for Thailand’s elephants.

After watching a short video about Mosha and Motala, visit the Thai Elephant Conservation Center (TECC) next door. Your knowledgeable private guide will explain the history and mission of TECC, where you can interact with several mothers and their adorable babies at the elephant nursery. After you feed some of the gentle giants, watch elephants show off their brains and brawn by hauling logs, playing sports and even painting.

After a Thai lunch at the center, enjoy some good, clean fun as you watch the elephants take a bath. You’ll also have the option of a 30-minute or 1-hour tandem elephant ride (additional expense) before or after your meal.

On the drive back to Chiang Mai, make a brief stop at Mae Ta, a small market selling local foods and plants. Then pay a visit to Ban Chang Nak, a museum and workshop founded by the famous Thai artist Phetch Viriya, a master carver of wooden elephants. Admire the replica of a mammoth made from thousands of wood chips on display in front of Ban Chang Nak. The center is home to hundreds of beautiful wooden elephants and other works, all created by local artists.

Your final destination is the Elephant Parade House in Chiang Mai, where you can participate in an optional crafts workshop. Onsite staff will assist you in painting your own miniature elephant (own expense), a perfect souvenir before your tour finishes with hotel drop-off in the early evening.

Great tour. Private transfer with free bottles of water all day. Tour guide was knowledgeable and informative. Lots of opportunities to interact with elephants- riding, feeding, taking photos etc at a small cost. Would highly recommend. Can spend the whole day at the conservation centre as has everything from elephant shows to a cafe and shop.

My husband, 5 and 1/2 year old daughter and I enjoyed this day trip. We particularly enjoyed visiting the elephant hospital and hearing the stories about Mosha and Motala.
The elephant show was interesting and fun. Whilst nervous, I enjoyed feeding the elephants. We loved watching the elephants having a bath.
However, the highlight was going for a ride on an elephant - an amazing experience.
This was a long day trip and perhaps could be condensed we didn't think the trip to the Ban Chang Nak museum was essential.
Overall, it was a great elephant experience daytrip.

Elephants galore! Great day out and offers more than just typical full day elephant experience. Had driver and guide to ourselves. Was touched by elephant hospital and happy to see animals so well cared for. Got to have a quick ride, visited local markets and 2 amazing elephant art galleries. Great day!
