The province of Petchaburi has been described as a place where Siam’s golden era of Ayutthaya still lives on. This is amply demonstrated in the magnificent architecture of its palaces and ancient temples.

On this full-day tour, you’ll drive north for around an hour from Hua Hin to Wat Mahathat Worawihan, one of the oldest and most notable temples in the area, built by the Khmer civilization. Part of the temple is more than a thousand years old. Prior to the procession of monks, we will prepare alms for you to offer the monks and receive their blessing.

Continue on to Phra Nakorn Kiri, also known as Khao Wang or Palace Mountain. Here, on the top of the mountain, is a complex of buildings that includes the summer palace of King Rama IV, or King Mongkut. A cable car takes visitors up and down the mountain.

Next you’ll visit Khao Luang, or Royal Mountain, which is actually a small hill with a cave that’s filled with ancient Buddha images. There is also a beautiful temple to the right of the cave entrance.

You can buy bananas and corn from the local vendors to feed the monkeys that gather at the entrance of the cave. Please exercise caution as some may become aggressive.

Enjoy a buffet lunch at a hotel in Petchaburi before returning to Hua Hin.
