Meet your stand-up paddleboarding instructor at Point Walter in the Perth suburb of Bicton, on the south shore of the Swan River. You'll be outfitted with provided equipment to get your SUP lesson started. Before you stand up, its important to learn how to paddle on your knees and when lying flat, as well as board control, how to turn the board using basic paddle techniques, foot placement and stance, and self rescue. This lesson should leave you feeling very confident in the water as you put your new skills to use by venturing out on your guided paddle along the river, gliding through the scattered boats along the cliff faces toward Blackwall Reach. Stop to rest at beaches along the way, where you can stretch and relax on your board in the tranquil water before heading back to your starting point. You are likely to see a variety of marine wildlife while paddling, plus enjoy the opportunity to practice your skills in a safe and encouraging environment with your ASI-qualified coach. Take in the tranquility of this section of the river, listen to tips from your guide, and put your skills to the test with some races and games.
