The nearby Montecatini Alto, which can be reached with the local special and old style cable car, is a fascinating medieval village at the very heart of the quintessential Tuscan atmosphere.

The hotel room was lovely and the some of the staff were friendly. Received an envelope on arrival with voucher for wine and funicular ticket. Also a voucher with booking date and pick up time for the lunch on a Tuscany farm made without consultation to me. No one came to pick me up for the lunch, waited over an hour in the lobby and then another 30 mins in my room. Gave up and went to Montecatini Alto for lunch. Hotel reception nor myself never received an explanation as to why no one arrived to pick me up. Had to ask about the massage included in the package, staff seemed a little unsure but was eventually able to book massage. No other information about the welcome drink and other spa facilities that were included in my booking were forthcoming and in the end felt very uncomfortable about having to keep asking so gave up. I was very happy to book and pay for some extra spa treatments through the hotel and these were excellent. This is a lovely quiet little place with a wonderful history and thermal spa facilities and I also enjoyed the experience of 'taking the waters' from the towns springs, but would recommend booking independently to experience these things rather than booking this package and being disappointed. Highly recommend going to Montecatini Alto. A very beautiful Tuscan experience.
