Plitvice waterfalls are a part of our UNESCO heritage and the biggest natural attraction in Croatia. CNN Travel declared Plitvice as one of 25 world's greatest natural wonders!
The National park is composed of almost 30. 000 hectares of woods and a dramatic string of 16 turquoise-colored lakes connected by a series of more than 100 waterfalls and cascades. The biggest of them - The Great Waterfall - is 78m / 255ft high.
The water flowing over the limestone and chalk has, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today.
