With our experienced guide you start the tour on the area of the coal mine which was in operation until 1967, where today the Dortmund Chamber of Crafts runs one of its training centres. On our way to the moated castle Westhusen, built in the first half of the 14th century, we see the Malakow Tower of Westhausen colliery, built in 1873. From here we continue to the Renaissance water castle Bodelschwingh with an English landscape park, which has been used as a family residence since 1302. Our tour ends at the starting point. Here you can find out more about the history of the colliery and mining life by visiting the small mining museum "BUV-Kleinzeche" in the gatehouse, which was set up by the Bergmann-Unterst?tzungs-Verein (BUV) Mengede.
