Your wonderful day starts with a pick up from your hotel. Then, you will be driven south to reach Kanyakumari, also known as Cape Comorin. The word Cape Comorin is a combination of two words, Cape, meaning a land which infiltrated into the sea and Comorin the former name of the area. The rocky headland on the Indian Ocean is situated in the State of Tamil Nadu and, forms the subcontinent’s southernmost point. On the way visit Padmanbhapuram Palace, the largest wooden palace complex of Asia that served as the summer palace of the erstwhile Travancore Kingdom. A perfect exemplar of the traditional Keralan architecture, the palace was once the capital of Travancore. Explore the palace and get an insight into the life of the Maharajas of Travancore. The oldest section within the palace complex dates back to 1550. Then, continue towards the town for lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy an authentic south Indian vegetarian lunch and then proceed towards the Kanyakumari Devi Temple. Located at the tip of the subcontinent, the sea facing temple is a beautiful attraction and one of the highly revered point of interest of the town. It is believed that the back spine area of Sati’s corpse fell here creating the presence of kundalini sakthi in the region. It is also one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Then, pay a visit to the Gandhi Memorial, beautifully perched at the end of the land. Shaped in the form of an Odishi Temple, perfectly imagined by Christian, Hindu, and Muslim architects, the memorial is one of the most famous attractions of Kanyakumari. The central footstall of the building stores some of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi, before they were immersed in the sea. Then, get back to Kovalam. En-route visit the Suchindram Temple, a pilgrim center made in honor of Lord Hanuman. The temple is far-famed for its 17th century sculptures.
