Start your tour from Gregory Lake in the town of Nuwara Eliya City at 8am. Your mountain bike, helmet, and other equipment will be provided, as well as a backup vehicle. With your experienced cycling guide, start pedaling along the 53-mile (85-km) route. The ride is exhilaratingly fast, and you must maintain good control of your bike to avoid slipping or crashing around corners. The pretty green tea estates, distant mountains, waterfalls, and the mist that enshrouds those corners creates a landscape like something out of a dream. As the cool wind whizzes past your ears, you'll feel a rush of adrenaline as you take sharp corners on mountain roads, just catching sight of a blur of images from the corner of your eye. Along the way, stop by a tea estate, where you will meet some local tea pickers. You can speak to them with translation help from your guide, and learn about their lives and the challenges they face. You will also learn how to pick out the best tea leaves from these locals, and then you can wear a tea basket and try your hand at plucking tea yourself. Next, visit a tea factory to see how the plucked leaves are turned into tea. Learn more about the varieties and qualities of processed tea leaves, and buy fresh tea leaves as souvenirs, if you wish. You can also have a cup of pure, hot, Ceylon tea, letting it warm the chill that you accumulated from biking through the cold mountains. After spending some time here, continue downhill on your route, ending your tour back at Gregory Lake.
